Dha Shunya Band
Founded by Ustad Herry Singh ji from Hamburg Sangeet Tabla Gharana and Mrs. Shubhlata Vashist. The name Shunya is deeply significant as it is derived from a special taal (Rhythm) honored by Legendary Guru Ji Kausar Ali Sahab, reflecting the essence of emptiness and boundless possibilities in music. Dha Shunya is a name rich with symbolic meaning — “Dha”, one of the fundamental syllables of Indian rhythm (from tabla bols), represents the heartbeat of music, while “Shunya”, meaning zero or emptiness, points to a meditative, infinite space — the source of all creativity. Together, the name reflects a balance of rhythm and silence, form and formlessness, tradition and innovation.

Founders- Short Introduction
Maestro Herry Singh
A renowned classical tabla player with over 35 years of experience and more than 5000 international performances. Throughout his career, he has earned over 200 national and international awards. His musical journey includes performing for Radio Channels in India and Germany, showcasing his mastery and versatility across the globe. A dedicated disciple of the legendary Ustad late Shri Kausar Ali Sahab, Herry Singh has mastered the rich traditions of the Punjab, Delhi, Ajrada, and Banaras gharanas. In addition to his personal achievements, he founded the Hamburg Sangeet Tabla Gharana under the guidance of his guru, contributing to the continued preservation and evolution of classical tabla music.
Mrs. Shubhlata Vashist
Is an experienced IT professional with over 20 years of expertise across Europe. Her career in technology is complemented by her deep commitment to social service, empowering students, women, and working to preserve cultural heritage. Passionate about promoting Hindi, Indian culture, and Indian classical music, Shubhlata actively works to inspire the next generation and spread positivity. She is actively advocating for unity, cultural preservation, and community welfare.

While rooted in the Hamburg Sangeet Tabla Gharana’s classical foundations, Dha Shunya Band pushes sonic boundaries. Expect complex rhythms, deep raga improvisations, layered textures, and experimental arrangements — all while maintaining the emotional depth and discipline of classical music.
Who’s Involved
The core members of the band include senior disciples of the Gharana, as well as guest artists from around the world. Each concert may feature a slightly different lineup, keeping performances fresh, spontaneous, and full of creative synergy.
